Kathmandu
is not known for all night entertainment. The discotheques may
remain open until 2:00am but there are only the casinos to turn
to after that. Open 24 hrs a day; the four well established
casinos are located within the premises of 5-star hotels. Casino
Nepal the first ever casino in Nepal was inaugurated on 10th
March 1968. The others are Casino Anna at Hotel De L' Annapurna;
Casino Everest at the Hotel Everest and Casino Royal at Hotel
Yak & Yeti. Time stands still within the casinos and there
is no differentiating day from night. The
casinos provide the only 24- hour recreational activities in
Nepal. While the city sleeps the casinos come to life as more
people visit them in the wee hours of the morning. The casinos
never close.
Games like
Blackjack, Baccarat, Pontoon, Roulette, Flush, Beat the dealer
and Poker are on around the clock. Some games that even kids
can play are Keno and slot machines. Mahjong, a Chinese
game is played only at the Casino Anna.
The casinos
will seduce you with their hospitality and complimentary facilities.
Guest Relations- executives are on hand to guide you or even
explain the various games to novices. All games are played with
chips that can be bought with US dollars or Indian Rupees. Free
transportation is provided to all guests who ask for it.
The casinos
are also known for their entertainment programs. There are often
dances and live Hindi music is a regular feature in some of
them. During local festivals there are special programs featuring
cultural and classical dances. At such occasions food and drinks
are usually complementary. Many competitive events are also
held regularly in some of the casinos, like beauty pageants,
bodybuilding or song and dance competitions.
