Vegetation
Thickly forested with sal trees, it is carpeted with long
phanta grass along with riverine and savannah forest.
Wildlife
Apart from the Royal Bengal tiger, the wildlife also includes
leopards, jungle cats, mongooses, sloth bear, blue cows, langurs,
rhesus monkeys and also the barking spotted hog and sambar deer.
Also found are the introduced one horned rhinos and even a couple
of wild elephants.
Birds
More than 250 species of birds have been recorded here.
Out of which the endangered species include the Bengal florican,
lesser florican, silver eared mesia and Sarus crane.
River Species
The Geruwa river running through the reserve is home to
the famous mahseer game fish, gharial, mugger crocodile and
even the Gangetic dolphin.
Season
Avoid the rainy season.
